NEWSLETTER April 2010
Letter from the president……………
At last!! Spring seems to be right
around the corner. Doesn’t it feel great to get outside after this long snowy winter? I have winter aconite, crocus, snowdrops, hellebores and heathers blooming. All just a harbinger of
what’s to follow—daylilies!!
Many in our club have already been preparing for our hosting the summer Region 2 meeting. I would love to see 100% participation by our members. Even if you can only donate a few hours, they would be greatly
appreciated. There is a lot to be done and if you are not sure how you can contribute, just ask. We can utilize everyone. We will need a lot of help,
especially during the week preceding the meeting. Much more information can be found in the newsletter.
Please, if you have not been informed earlier, be aware that the April
meeting has been moved to Saturday, the 24th at 1pm. Please bring newer daylilies for the auction, a perennial to exchange if interested and your enthusiasm. We will be distributing Tim Bell’s 2009 & 2010 introductions for guest plants. Remember, to be eligible for a guest plant in 2010 your dues had to be paid through 2010 by December 31, 2009. Of course, there will be a business meeting, mainly to work on the summer meeting.
Kingwood Center will be charging a parking fee of $5 per person beginning this year. This might be the time to become a member of Kingwood if you aren’t already. Single membership is $40 and dual/family
is only $50. Besides free parking, there are many other perks that are
described on their website.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for electing me as your president. I have some ideas for the club that I hope will be found to be helpful and I encourage anyone that might have any suggestions to speak with me, call me, or email me. Also, please feel free to share any concerns you might have with me or any of the trustees. We are also adding a “dates to remember” to the newsletter so that everyone will have access to them. Please mark your calendars.
